A doctor by profession, Dr Rampratap, 64, is from Hanumangarh. Born in a humble , middle class family in village Jorkiyan, Hanumangarh, Dr Rampratap has always been academically sound.
He did his MBBS from Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner. Instead of practicing as
a doctor, he chose social work and decided to join politics. After struggling for many years in the political field, he joined BJP. In 1993 he won his first assembly election by defeating Congress candidate Chaudhary Vinod Kumar by the margin of 3356 votes.
Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was impressed with his capabilities and awarded him with the post of Food and Supply minister in his cabinet.
Due to Dr Rampratap’s efforts, Bhairon Singh announced Hanumangarh as a district in 1994. He is a mass-based leader. The common man is in direct touch with this leader.
In 1998 Congress had to bite the dust again in Hanumangarh. Dr Rampratap defeated Chaudhary Atmaram. Under his leadership BJP won two assembly elections in Hanumangarh for the first time. In 2003, he lost the assembly election. But in 2013, he bounced back by defeating Vinod Kumar Chaudhary.
Raje, acknowledging his excellent capabilities, appointed him as Chairman of IGNP.
He is a very simple and hardworking man. His daily routine includes visiting fields, meeting people and trying his best to solve their problems.
