Jaipur, Dec 7 : There is good news for distressed women of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Women Commission, which was functioning without a chairperson for the past few months, now not only has new chairperson but each of the complaints at its Call Centre will now be recorded. All the call details, grievances of the complainants and those of the counsellors would be recorded and registered, so that no one feels that her complaints will not be looked into.
Chairperson Suman Sharma says she is going to look into the complaints personally and hear them on a daily basis. She wants accountability from her officers and if it is found that the counsellor while speaking to the complainant is not following what the rule brief says, would be taken to task. Sharma, who has been a BJP spokesperson until recently and has defended Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje staunchly during her crisis period, has been entrusted with this sought-after post, to give a new direction to resolve women issues.
Position of women in Rajasthan is still something to worry about. Domestic violence, gender discrimination, female infanticide, abuse and patriarchal and conservative society are still major hindrances in empowering women of the state.
