A Toy Bank was opened in Ajmer today to bring cheer to the less privileged children. Thanks to an initiative of Ajmer district administration, this Toy Bank will make toys available to Aaganbadis, primary schools and kids living in children’s wards.
A mobile app specially developed to facilitate collection of toys was also launched today. Any donor can access the app to donate toys in this bank. The donors will receive a letter of appreciation by the administration.
The Toy Bank was inaugurated at the district collectorate premises through video conferencing by the chief minister Vasundhara Raje. She herself sent 101 educational toys which were distributed by collector Gaurav Goyal to the kids present on the occasion. Some kids also interacted with the CM through video conferencing.
Ms. Raje said such toy banks should be opened in all districts of Rajasthan and congratulated Ajmer Collector for his initiative. She also took update on Nagaur Toy Bank from district collector Rajan Vishal.
The initiative has got good response in the city motivating banks, educational institutions and NGOs to come forward in the toy collection drive. Uco Bank has set-up 50 Toy Collection centres in their branches and HDFC, Sofia and Mayo College are also going to open Toy Collection centres in their premises. Lions Club, Mahaveer Internatinal and Brahmakumaris organization have gifted toys to enrich the toy bank.
Hindustan Zince has made available two mobile vans to collect toys.
So far 8,000 toys have been collected across the district. In coming one month, a toy collection drive aims to collect nearly 50,000 toys for the bank.
CM Raje has also directed to open cloth and mobile book banks to motivate people to donate books and cloths.
