Raje takes to Twitter on cow controversy

Jaipur, Aug 6 : The death of the 500 cows in the state-run Hingonia gaushala has become an embarrassment for the Vasundhara Raje government and has forced her to take to social media to communicate the action taken and her discomfort.

With the Opposition gunning down her neck with digs about BJP’s cow protecting vigilantes, Raje today took to Twitter to express her displeasure over the entire incident. Raje is out of twon at the moment and is likely to visit the cow centre once she returns.

She has tweeted :”Discussed in detail the situation of Hingonia Gaushala with the Officials after receiving a report on the current conditions. Strict action has been taken against responsible officials for negligence of duty. Shall visit the Hingonia Gaushala myself upon return.”

More than 250 contractual workers who were hired to clean the cow sheds and feed the animals have been on strike since a month. The salaries of the workers have been held up due to a dispute between Jaipur Municipal Corporation and the firm which provides the workers.
And as such the shelter flushed with a thick mud layer and no food have resulted in deaths of more than 500 cows in the past few weeks.

According to Anti Corruption Bureau officials, who visited the shelter on the orders of the Rajasthan High Court, at least 1,099 bovines died in the month of July alone, and 214 died between August 1 and 4.

Keeping the heat on the BJP, the Opposition Congress today took out a rally in the state capital, demanding action against those guilty of killing the cows.
