Jaipur, Nov 21: Rajasthan’s Karauli district administration is reportedly asking its secondary school principals to motivate people to undergo sterilization and aim at a target of at least 25 people before March 2017.
The order issued by the Karauli district education officer (secondary) in a letter to 299 principals of government secondary and senior secondary schools on November 16, has asked them to accord sterilisation high priority in their official work.
The letter was reportedly sent in pursuance of an order by the district collector on November 7 for meeting sterilisation target in the district. Principals are required to motivate people to get sterilised as a population control measure.
Rajasthan recorded a 21% rise in population in the 2001 census, higher than the country’s decadal average of 17.64% and the BJP government was said to be keen to bring down the numbers.
The Karauli district collector also did not reply to the text messages.
Earlier, many controversial orders like clicking pictures of those openly defecating, prepare progress report on construction of toilets in their gram panchayats, have been issued.
The teachers are, obviously, not amused.
