Police complaint against JNU prof in Jodhpur

Jaipur, Feb 3 : Jodhpur University has filed a police complaint against Jawaharlal Nehru University’s professor Nivedita Menon for her allegedly inflammatory speech on Kashmir, Indian jawans, the country, and the Indian map at a seminar at the University.

Menon, a professor of comparative politics and political thought, who was speaking at a seminar yesterday on ‘History Reconstructed through literature’ organized by the English department of Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur, had supposedly spoken against India, saying India’s hold on Kashmir was unlawful.

She also said that jawans do not join the Army because they are full of patriotic fervor but only for the sake of earning something. When Siachen Glacier is not apt for living by any human beings, so why should lives be lost protecting it. It should be actually handed over to Pakistan. She also held the Indian map upside down during her speech.

She also allegedly said that Lord Ram was actually not a God and hurt the religious sentiments of the people.
The seminar was organized by English department’s Rajshri Ranawat and Veenu George.
Jodhpur Commissioner, Ashok Rathore confirmed that the police complaint was filed by the University in today evening at Ratanwada police station.

The ABVP today shut down the University in protest against the inflammatory speech of Menon.
