Jaipur, March 24 : Rajasthan police today filed a FIR against Jaipur’s most famous tourist resort Chowki Dhani management and officials for alleged harassment of a minor girl during a dance performance.
Delhi Commission for Women’s chief Swati Maliwal, who was at the resort on a personal visit last week, witnessed the shameful incident when a 13-year-old girl, who was dancing, was being showered with currency notes, surrounded by male tourists, who were also touching her inappropriately.
She wrote to the Rajasthan DGP Manoj Bhatt, asking for action against such inappropriate behaviour. Following which a FIR has been registered against the resort administration under IPC sections 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 374 (unlawful compulsory labour) besides relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the POCSO Act at the Sanganer Sadar police station Dharmveer Singh said on Friday.
The five-star Chokhi Dhani resort built in 1990 on the theme of Rajasthani village is a must visit for most tourists. The corporate world holds dinner parties at this resort, to entertain their delegates and also offer a unique experience of Rajasthani culture.
Chowki Dhani symbolises the traditional heritage hospitality of Rajasthani culture. Resort officials, however, say that such dance performances are showcased to get tourists acquainted with our rich culture but till date no such inappropriate behaviour has been seen or complained of, but will certainly be looked into.
