Rajasthan bids goodbye to red beacon

Jaipur, April 19 : Rajasthan would soon bid goodbye to the Red Beacon VIP culture. It has become one of the first states to implement the order.

The state government would follow the Centre’s directive over red beacon and would ban it even for the ministers.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje shared her opinion on Twitter. She tweeted : “Curtailing the use of #RedBeacon is a welcome & forward looking step towards having more people-friendly Government.”.

The red beacons, following the Supreme Court order in December 2013, are being used by those only on constitutional posts. Among those who can use it include governor, chief minister, chief justice and Justices of the Rajasthan High Court, Cabinet members, assembly speaker, deputy speaker and leader of the Opposition.
