Jaipur, April 27: Udaipur boy Kalpit Veerwal has made the state proud again. Kalpit has clinched the All India Rank 1 in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE, this year by scoring a full 100 percentile , I.e 360 out of 360 in the exams. The results were announced today.
Kalpit has perhaps created history by scoring full marks in one of the toughest exams held in India.
A student of MDS Senior Secondary School, he has appeared for his XII Board exams. Regular studies,a questioning spirit, a knack for clearing doubts from teachers and a zeal to achieve his goal, helped Kalpit secure full marks in the JEE Mains. His school says he has always been regular at school with a 100 percent attendance.
Kalpit says he studied for five-six hours daily apart from his coaching classes and schooling hours and home work.
Son of Pushkar Lal Veerwal, a compounder in a Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital, and mother Pushkar, a government school teacher, Kalpit says he was inspired by his elder brother , who studies in AIIMS. He says his parents were always by his side and encouraged him to study whenever and whatever he wanted. But never exerted any kind of pressure. It was solely his discretion as to how much he should put in if he needed to achieve what he has done today.
Kalpit is happy but not overjoyed as he still has to appear for the JEE Advanced on May 21 and says he cannot afford to take his studies lightly after what he has achieved in the Mains. JEE Mains took place on April 2.
He has taken coaching from Resonance’ s Udaipur centre and has not missed his coaching classes even onc. He joined the centre in Class VIII.
Winning and topping is not something new to Kalpit. He topped All India Junior Science Olympiad in 9th standard, cracked the top spot at the NTSE while in 10th class and topped KVPY in class XI.
