Jaipur, June 2: Former IPL czar Lalit Modi’s dreams of reentry into Rajasthan cricketing world through his son, Ruchir, has been dashed big time.
Hs son Ruchir, 22, lost the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) election to C P Joshi, 66, Congress veteran leader and close aide of Rahul Gandhi on Friday. The election took place on Monday as per the new guidelines released by the Lodha committee and the counting of votes began today at the RCA Academy located inside the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
Although Ruchir had said that his father does not want him to be connected with cricket, most experts say Lalit had decided to field his son after new rule imposed by Lodha panel that denied any existing members from contesting in next election.
Ruchir had made a quiet entry into Rajasthan’s cricketing circle last year when he was appointed as the president of Alwar district. However, he doesn’t have any previous associations with cricket, although he insists on vast administrative experience, thanks to his father.
With 19 votes to 14, Joshi managed to come out a winner, Joshi had been the RCA president once before.
