Drivers in Jaipur beware. The RTO is mulling a proposal to suspend licences if traffic violators only produce the photocopy of their licences to the police and not the original licence.
The proposal is being considered as traffic police claim that most road traffic violators produce the xerox copies of their license instead of original ones if confronted by them. Most people prefer to keep their original licences at home and carry a photocopy while driving for fear of losing it or being confiscated.
If the proposal gets the official nod, then traffic violators with photocopies of their licences would get a notice informing them about three months suspension of the licence at their address. Thereafter they would have to surrender their actual licences to the traffic police.
