Steven Smith dropped as RR captain

Jaipur, March 26: Team Rajasthan Royals, which has made a comeback into Indian Premier League in this year’s edition, has decided to drop Australian skipper, Steven Smith as their captain, after his admission to ball tampering charges during the third day’s play of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

The decision was reportedly taken by the franchisee yesterday and the same was informed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Rajasthan Royal’s team mentor Shane Warne has a role in the decision to drop Smith. Shane had tweeted on March 24; “Very disappointed with the pictures I saw on our coverage here in Cape Town. If proven the alleged ball tampering is what we all think it is – then I hope Steve Smith (Captain) & Darren Lehmann (Coach) do the press conference to clean this mess up !”

There is a chance that Ajinkya Rahane may lead RR. Ajinkya,29, is the vice-captain of Indian Test team and is a right-handed batsman. He made his debut in 2007-08 season.
