Jodhpur, April 6 : Bollywood actor Salman Khan will have to spend another night in Jodhpur Central jail today in the 20-year-old case of Blackbuck poaching.
District and Sessions Court Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi reserved the judgment on the actor’s bail plea hearing till Saturday.
Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita were present in the court while the actor stayed back in the jail.
Salman’s counsel defended that eyewitness accounts were unreliable and therefore the punishment to the actor is harsh.
His counsel also cited acquittal in other cases in the 51-page bail plea submitted in court.
Earlier, on Thursday, the court had sentenced the actor to a 5-year prison term in the 1998 blackbuck killing case. He was also slapped with a penalty of Rs 10,000.
However, his co-stars from the film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ – during the shoot of which the blackbucks killing took place – Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam walked free and left for Mumbai.
