Jaipur, April 17. More than 9,000 contractual employees working under MGNREGA carried out by Panchayati Raj department took one day mass leave on Monday. They are demanding to fill up all the posts created in 2013 .
The workers have threatened to intensify their protest if their demands were not met within 10 days. The workers’ mass leave all over the state vastly affected work related to livestock and agriculture.
The panchayat deparment had created more than 24,000 posts but only 7,765 posts were filled up. The remaining posts including those of district level coordinators,accountants and clerks are still lying vacant.
The contractual employees working since 2006 have also been demanding preference in permanent government jobs considering their experience.
There are 1.4 lakh works under Panchayati Raj department are under progress which may be affected if the MGNREGA staff resume their protests after ten days.
