Jaipur, April 19. BJP MLA from Alwar’s Mundawar constituency, Dharmpal Chaudhury passed away at a Gurugram hospital on Thursday. He was 64.
A three-time MLA from Alwar district–in 2003, 2008 and 2013, Choudhury was a powerful Jat leader of the region.
He was being treated of a liver ailment reportedly developed due to swine flu at a private hospital in Gurugram. He breathed his last in the wee hours of Thursday.
His last rites were performed at his native village in the afternoon, which was attended by a large gathering of his supporters. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje was also present at the funeral.
This is another loss to ruling BJP. Only recently, by poll to the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency was held due to the death of its MP Mahant Chandnath. Ajmer Lok Sabha and Mandalgarh assembly seats had also fell vacant following the death of Sanwar Mal Jat and Kirti Kumari respectively.
