PIL against Raje’s Gaurav Yatra

Jaipur, Aug 7: A PIL has been filed in the Rajasthan High Court against Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s extravagant Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra on Monday. Petitioner Vibhuti Bhushan Sharma is a lawyer, who alleges that the 4-day yatra is being undertaken at the expense of state exchequer, which is illegal and amounts to misuse of office for political gains by the party.

The petition alleges that the yatra is actually being carried out by the Chief Minister for electoral gains of the BJP but its expenditure is being passed onto the government exchequer involving government departments.

The petitioner pleaded to quash the illegal orders  passed by the government officials  directing the PWD and Public Relation department to publicise the yatra and recover expenses incurred by the government.   The petition has made BJP state president Madan Lal Saini, state chief secretary , principal secretary PWD , chief engineer and additional secretary PWD as respondents.

However, the state home minister Gulab Chand Kataria and yatra convenor has stated that all expenses of the yatra  would be borne  by the BJP.
