Human chain for martyrs in Raj border districts

Jaipur, Aug 14 : At least five lakh people formed a human chain called Shahdat Ko Salaam today to  pay respect and tributes to soldiers and martyrs and inculcate a feeling of patriotism among the people of the country.

The human chain covered a total distance of 700 km in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts along the India-Pakistanborder. The longest link will be in Jaisalmer about 260 km.  It started from Bikaner at 11 a.m., followed by the other three districts.  The chain started forming in Bikaner and went to Madasar in Jaisalmer and reach Barmer border from Nachana, Mohangarh, Hamira and Jaisalmer city to Devikot, Sangad and Fatehgarh.

Under the state government’s programme ‘Shahadat ko Salaam’, the programme is supported by the Indian Armyand the Border Security Force.

People also sang the national anthem.
