Tiger mauls man near Ranthambhore

Jaipur, Aug 22: A tiger attacked a man near the Ranthambhore National Park on Tuesday.

Forest officials said the victim Mukesh Gujjar sustained injuries on his legs and was rushed to the district hospital.

The tiger probably strayed in to a farm in Shyampura village from the forest. On hearing about a tiger in the garden, villagers gathered to have a look at it and even pelted stone at the tiger.

On being disturbed, the tiger jumped towards the villagers , making some of them climb a tree. The tiger could attack Mukesh and he got injured.

Later the forest officials rescued the villagers and transported them to safe places.

This is a case of increasing man- animal conflict in degrading forests, where animals are often straying out of the territories and are forced to attack humans.
